Cross-university and interdisciplinary learning programme for disruptive technologies in the creative and cultural industries.

Hochschulübergreifende und interdisziplinäre Plattform für disruptive Technologien in der Kreativ- und Kulturwirtschaft.

About

Skills for Tomorrow – through a focus on digitalization and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Today’s students from all disciplines increasingly need skills in digitalization and interdisciplinary collaboration, as well as a solid understanding of digital transformation. To meet this need, the Nuremberg Tech and the Nuremberg  University of Music have teamed up in the “Disruption in Creativity” (DisC) program, which integrates new digital technologies into teaching across both institutions.

“Disruption in Creativity” refers to the shifts caused by disruptive technologies in the cultural and creative industries, as well as in the creative process itself.

Participate

Learning, exchanging, and experimenting with new technologies — with interdisciplinarity at its core.

At the heart of the DisC program are cross-institutional, interdisciplinary “semester projects,” where student teams from both universities work together.

Additionally, the program hosts a public expert lecture series featuring guest speakers who share their insights on the latest digital trends and developments.

Semester Projects

In a “Semester Project”, students from the Computer Science and Design departments at the Nuremberg Tech join forces with students from the Nuremberg University of Music.

Each project lasts a semester and involves a multidisciplinary student team. Since the projects are integrated into the curriculum, students receive credits according to their field’s ECTS system, making it part of their regular coursework.

If you have questions, coaches are available to provide direct help or connect you with the right experts.

Options to participate

  • CGI students in their 6th semester collaborate with students from Computer Science and Media (B.Sc.) in the “Generative Design” (FWPF) elective and music students.
  • Interaction design students in their 6th semester collaborate with students from Computer Science (B.Sc.) and Computer Science and Media (B.Sc.), on their IT projects, as wells as music students.

These projects count as elective credits in the free elective area.

Music students can find more details on eCampus der Hochschule für Musik.

If you’re studying Computer Science (B.Sc./M.Sc.) or Computer Science (and Media B.Sc./M.Sc.), you can take part in a DisC semester project, as your “IT project” (i.e. IT applications, or interdisciplinary project work).

Want to join the expert lectures as an elective course and earn ECTS credits? Simply sign up for the right elective. More info is available on Virtuohm.
